Graph Brain
I think my brain works like a graph. I didn't realize this until I became older.
I have a very good memory and I can remember details about people and events that are completely irelevant until they are relevant. My brain is always trying to find patterns and connections between things, sometimes even finding false connections. Correlation does not equal causation. This makes me particularly succeptible to conspiracy theories.
This also leads me to misremember idioms or mispeak. People think I'm making a clever joke. In the moment, I just pretend that I'm funny. For example, calling a banh mi a "pho sandwich", or saying a "sigh of fresh air". Technically these are incorrect, but they are metaphorically related so they're probably stored in some similar area of my brain.
Another quirk is that I can hear a song hundreds of times and still not remember the lyrics. I have an interesting theory about this. Famous songwriter Max Martin says that he sings vowels while writing melodies, then fits words in later. So, I think my brain can't remember lyrics because they are semantically meaningless.
I think everyone's brain works very differently. I enjoy learning about how everyone's brains work.
